About Star Harbor Care
Every Family Needs a Village. We're Building a New One.
Families were never meant to do everything alone.
But today, grandparents may live across the country. Parents are balancing careers and children. Schools close. Nannies get sick. Meetings run late. And sometimes the carefully planned system holding a family together falls apart with one phone call.
Star Harbor Care was created for those moments — and for a bigger purpose:
to build a more dependable way for families to find care they can truly trust.
Our Story Started at Home
Star Harbor wasn't born from a business plan.
It started after my daughter was born during COVID.
Our family was far away and couldn't travel. I was a new mom trying to navigate a baby, work, exhaustion and a life that suddenly felt much harder to manage without the village I thought I would have.
Then a caregiver came into our lives through backup care.
At first, she was someone coming to help for the day.
She became much more than that.
She learned our family. I trusted her with my daughter. She became the person I called when I needed help and someone our family relied on for years.
Then the agency she worked for left Dallas–Fort Worth.
And I saw something I couldn't unsee.
There were families searching desperately for dependable care.
There were wonderful caregivers searching for dependable work.
Yet the system connecting them often felt fragmented, transactional and impersonal.
I believed we could build something better.
So I started Star Harbor Care.
The Meaning Behind Star Harbor
We chose our name deliberately.
Home is the harbor.
It's where children should feel safe, where families come back to one another, and where some of life's most important moments happen.
Caregivers are the stars.
They are the people families look to when they need another pair of hands, another trusted adult, another person watching over what matters most.
Put those ideas together and you get Star Harbor.
A company built to help protect the place families call home.
Trust Has to Be Earned
Inviting someone into your home is deeply personal.
That's why we don't believe care should feel like ordering a stranger from an app.
Star Harbor caregivers are W-2 employees who go through background screening, drug testing and training before representing our company in a family's home.
But a checklist alone doesn't create trust.
We look for people who show up. People who communicate. People who are patient when a child is having a hard day. People who understand that being welcomed into someone's home is a privilege and a responsibility.
We ask ourselves one question throughout the process:
Would we trust this person in our own home, with our own family?
Our standards start there.
Built for the Days That Don't Go According to Plan
A child wakes up sick.
School suddenly closes.
Your nanny calls out.
A meeting runs late.
Your regular care disappears the morning you absolutely cannot miss work.
For families, these aren't small inconveniences. One care disruption can throw an entire household into chaos.
For employers, the same problem follows parents to work.
Star Harbor provides dependable in-home care when the normal plan isn't available — helping families keep moving and helping employers better support the people who work for them.
But backup care is only the beginning.
We're Building the Care Company We Wish Existed
The future of Star Harbor isn't simply about filling more shifts.
It's about creating something families can depend on throughout different seasons of life.
A trusted network of professional caregivers.
Strong local care teams.
Technology that makes getting help simpler without making care less human.
Better careers for the people doing this essential work.
And eventually, a care system families can turn to for children, adults and aging loved ones.
Technology can make care faster.
Systems can make care more reliable.
But people are what make care matter.
We intend to build all three well.
From One Family in Texas to Families Across America
Star Harbor began in Dallas–Fort Worth with one caregiver, one family and one very personal experience.
We're still growing.
We're still learning.
And we're building carefully because trust isn't something you scale by cutting corners.
Our ambition, however, is not small.
We're building toward one of America's most trusted family care companies — one family, one caregiver and one community at a time.
Because every family deserves people they can call when life doesn't go according to plan.
And no family should have to build their village alone.
