Childcare Professional | San Jose
Full-Time, Part-Time & Flexible Opportunities
$22–$28/hour | W-2 Employment
Meaningful work. Flexible hours. Families who need you.
Job Description
Star Harbor Care is growing our San Jose team and looking for exceptional childcare professionals who want rewarding work with children while maintaining flexibility in their schedules.
Our caregivers support families in their homes when regular childcare isn't available—whether that's because of a school closure, a caregiver cancellation, a changing work schedule, or simply a family needing an extra set of trusted hands.
We're looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with children and take pride in being someone families can depend on.
This could be a great fit if you're...
A preschool or daycare teacher looking for additional hours. A nanny or babysitter who wants the support and stability of W-2 employment. A nursing, education, child development, psychology, or related student looking for meaningful hands-on experience. An after-school teacher, camp counselor, teacher assistant, or experienced caregiver looking for flexible work.
You may be looking for consistent hours—or simply want to tell us when you're available and pick up care opportunities that fit your schedule.
What You'll Do
Provide warm, attentive childcare in families' homes
Engage children through play, reading, creative activities, and age-appropriate learning
Follow each family's routines and care instructions
Prepare simple meals and snacks as needed
Help children feel comfortable and secure when their regular caregiver isn't available
Maintain a safe and tidy care environment
Communicate professionally with families and the Star Harbor team
What We're Looking For
We're looking for caregivers who are dependable, patient, engaging, and comfortable working independently.
Previous experience caring for children is required. Experience may come from professional nannying, preschool or daycare, teaching, after-school programs, camps, babysitting, or other substantial childcare settings.
Caregivers must also have:
Current CPR & First Aid certification
Reliable transportation
Ability to travel to family homes in the San Jose area
Strong communication and reliability
Ability to successfully complete Star Harbor's screening and background requirements
California TrustLine registration or willingness to complete the required process before placement
Experience with infants, toddlers, multiple children, or children with additional support needs is especially valued.
